1、 What is CE certification?
The CE mark is a safety certification mark that is considered a passport for manufacturers to open and enter the European market. CE stands for European Unity (CONFORMITE EUROPERNNE). Products bearing the "CE" mark can be sold within the member states of the European Union to demonstrate compliance with the basic requirements of the EU's "New Methods of Technical Coordination and Standardization" directive, without the need to comply with the requirements of each member state, thus achieving free circulation of goods within the EU member states.
CE certification can be carried out in 32 special economic zones in Europe, including 28 EU, 3/4 EFTA and Türkiye. Products with CE marking can freely circulate in the European Economic Area (EEA). Outside the European Union, CE certification is widely used and globally recognized, with high recognition in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Africa.
2、 The necessity of CE certification.
CE certification indicates that the product has met the safety requirements specified in EU directives; It is a commitment made by enterprises to consumers, which increases their trust in the product; Products with CE markings will reduce the risk of sales in the European market. These risks include:
The risk of being detained and investigated by customs;
The risk of being investigated and punished by market supervision agencies;
Risk of being accused by peers for competitive purposes.
3、 How to choose a certification body?
CE does not have a unified issuing authority, so there is no unified query channel/website.
The authority of CE certification issued by well-known foreign institutions such as TUV is beyond doubt. Many companies require TUV certification, but they believe that the quoted price is too expensive. In fact, there are many certification bodies recognized by the EU, and you can choose any certification body recognized by the EU to pass CE certification. CE certification is only a safety certification for products, and does not certify product quality. Therefore, there is not much difference between certification bodies recognized by TUV or other European member states, and domestic certification bodies can also issue CE certification certificates.
For enterprises that pursue cost-effectiveness and cost control, domestic third-party testing institutions are undoubtedly the best choice.
